چکیده

Mammalian spermatozoa generate a variety of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which are thought to play a role during sperm capacitation, acrosome reaction, and oocyte fusion. However, oxidative stress (OS) occurs if the generation of ROS overwhelms the body’s limited antioxidant defenses. Infertility is the main complication associated with high levels of OS in the seminal fluid. Patients with idiopathic infertility present with significantly higher seminal ROS levels than fertile men. It is evident that OS is an independent measure of sperm quality. The process by which spermatozoa produce ROS is not fully understood. Immature spermatozoa contain excessive cytoplasm containing enzymes such as NADPH oxidase, which may be responsible for ROS production. Recently, we prospectively evaluated its role in ROS generation. of NADPH but only when lucigenin was used as a probe. O2 ●-

P-199: Effect of Oxidative Stress on Sperm Quality and Mmu-miR-34a Expression in Testis of Mature Mouse

Background: Male infertility is responsible for approximately 50% of infertility in the world. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) is one of the causative agents of infertility in males which effects on sperm quality and function. In this study, the effects of oxidative stress induced by tertiary-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) were investigated on sperm quality, testis tissue and miRNAs expression. Mater...

P-28: Protective Effect of Curcumin on The Damages Induced by Nicotine on Reproductive Parameters in Male Mice

Background: Nicotine is a substance that can induce oxidative stress in the testes. And thus may reduce fertility in men. Antioxidant supplements such as curcumin can reduce oxidative stress and thus may increase fertility in men. Since the most active component responsible for the yellow color of turmeric and curcumin has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Therefore this study inves...

A Review: Role of oxidative stress in male infertility

Recent studies have shown that reactive oxygen species (ROS) have a very important role in the intracellular signaling process in physiological conditions. On the other hand, during the recent decade it has been indicated that ROS play a role in various types of male infertility and it is due to the overproduction of ROS or decrease in the antioxidant defense system in the reproductive system a...

O-2: A Novel Antioxidant Formulation to Treat Male Infertility Emanating from Sperm Oxidative DNA Damage: Promising Preclinical Evidence from Mouse Models

Background: Sperm DNA damage (SDD) is a significant male infertility factor, yet it is not routinely diagnosed or treated in couples undertaking fertility treatment by ART. Men with this condition are likely to experience sub-fertility or infertility, expose their female partners to greater risk of miscarriage and pass on de novo sporadic DNA mutations potentially compromising the health of the...

Effect of Ceratonia siliqua (Carob) syrup and vitamin E on sperm parameters, oxidative stress index and sex hormones in infertile men: Protocol for a randomized controlled trial

Background: Spermatogenesis is a necessary process in fertility and reproductive capacity of humans. In view of the relative high prevalence of spermatogenesis disorders in men and the failure of treatments provided in conventional medicine, new therapeutic approaches are being considered. This study will be designed to investigate the effect of Ceratonia siliqua (Carob) syrup and vitamin E on ...

P-87: Effect of Oxidative Stress on Sperm quality and Testis Histopathology in Mature Male Mice

Background: Infertility is a major clinical and worldwide reproductive problem that affects approximately 15% of young couples. The male factors are responsible for periphery 50 percent of these cases. Recently, the generation of oxidative stress, also described as an imbalance between the production of Reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the body’s antioxidant defence mechanisms, in the male rep...
